Helping Sainsbury's to build more than 2000 'Food Donation Partnerships'
The Sainsbury’s food donation programme has been making a positive difference to communities since 2014, with CCWorks supporting the development and growth of the programme since 2015 by ensuring stores have both ‘back of store’ and ‘front of store’ charity partners who can benefit from store and customer donated goods.
The aim of the programme is to reduce food waste and ensure vulnerable people in the community are well supported with much needed food items. In addition to fresh food donations some stores run long-life customer food collections where customers are encouraged to purchase an extra item in their shopping to be donated to charity.
CCWorks’ role is to source suitable charity partners and invite them to apply to become a Food Donation Partner with their local store. We administer the smooth running of the programme from sourcing the right partners to the signing of agreement forms.
Since CCWorks involvement the number of charities partnered ‘back of store’ has grown by over 300% and the number of ‘front of store’ partners has grown from zero to ensuring all 2000 stores have partners.
Since 2015 we have supported the stores to donate thousands of tonnes of food to local charities and families in the community
